NATIONAL ACTIVITIES: Successfully carried out in Ghana

Ghana Permaculture Institute implemented its national activities by organizing an empowerment training for 12 youth on the 11th and 12th of August, 2022. The title was empowering youth participation in entrepreneurship through non-formal education.

Activities focused on the concept of permaculture considering the three ethics of earth care, people care and fair share as well as the 12 principles coine by David Holmgren. Also, the activities focused on strengthening competences including computer literacy, multilingual, digital, cultural awareness, mathematics and science, entrepreneurship, literacy and citizenship competencies.

Three facilitators, Mr. Charles Katere, Mad. Elham Ware and Mr. Felix Dornaabanyin facilitated the national youth activities after returning from the Malawi training. The twelve participants came from different regions of Ghana, but most of them came from the Bono East region where Ghana Permaculture Institute is located. The participants were active youth and yearning to gain soft and practical skills to take position of their life.

Most of the participants had the opportunity for the first time to hear about the concept of permaculture and about the demonstrational social entrepreneurial activities in the Institute. The training was a success and full of fun and connecting with new members. Ghana Permaculture Institute is happy to include some of the youth in their upcoming permaculture trainings.
